Today was a very special day in Lynchburg, VA. It was the very first Run for their lives Race. There were over 800 people that came out to run! Praise the Lord! They were able to raise over $17,000 that will go directly to the beginnings organization in Thailand. The Run for their lives race is to support Freedom 4/24.
Freedom 4/24 exists to raise awareness of sexual exploitation in Southeast Asia and raise money to support Christ-centered ministries seeking to rescue women enslaved in the sex industry. There are more than 300,000 prostituted persons in Thailand. It produces an approximate annual income of 27 billion dollars for the sex industry. Freedom 4/24 stands for the $24 that it cost to purchase a young girl for a night. Some of these girls are as young as 7 and 8 years old. Men travel from all over the world to come and "purchase" these girls. You cannot help but be disgusted. These families have no other means to support their family or so they think. Some parents even sell their own daughters to these criminals in order to support the rest of their family. It is a wonderful cause and we can help!
