Love

One of my favorite things as a parent is when my one year old son, walks towards me with both arms raised for me to pick him up with a big smile on his face; or even if he is crying and wants me to comfort him. It warms my heart that he wants his mama to hold him. I love it when his arms are raised and he wants me to pick him up just because he wants to be close to me or even if he needs something (usually food) it brings me so much joy to be available for him.
Don't you know this is exactly how God feels about us! God has taught me so much about His love through being a parent to my own children. God wants us to raise our arms and ask for Him to comfort us, spend time with us or just be next to Him. It warms Gods heart for us to want Him and turn to him first when we need something.
Imagine if your sweet little baby just sat and cried by himself when he was upset, and when you tried to pick him up he just turned away shaking his head and kept crying.  Or worse, what if your baby ran to someone else a sibling or other family member first and never wanted you?
I can only imagine this is how God feels with so many of us. I know there have been plenty of times in my life when I have been upset or troubled and I have picked up the phone to call someone else way before I have stopped to talk to God about it. I also know there have been those times when I have sat pouting and crying by myself and through my own stubbornness didn't want God's help or comfort I just wanted to have a pity party for myself!
If I remembered to talk to God first and ask for his guidance and wisdom when something happened good or bad, I can only imagine how much better I would handle things. The times when I have remembered to do that, He instantly calms me down and changes my perspective.

I think about how I try so hard to be a good parent, to be patient and loving; and how many times I fall short. Yes, I lose my temper, and my patience far to quickly with my little ones. But God! He is the PERFECT parent! He is always there, always waiting. He never grows impatient, he is always kind, always loving, always there to comfort us, guide us and just BE with us!

Thank you God for being the PERFECT parent!
