Adoption Timeline

How you can help change lives!

International adoption is getting more and more difficult, countries are shutting down, wait times are getting longer, costs are increasing, adoption workers are working around the clock, waiting families are frustrated and orphans are stuck.
We recieved a letter from our agency today not related to our personal adoption journey but just international adoption in general and like I mentioned in my last post it seems to be getting more and more difficult to adopt internationally, which means so many children are left without ever knowing their forever family.
Here are some heart breaking statistics from our Agency

  • every 20 seconds another child is orphaned
  • 10 million orphans are living in institutions
  • every year 2,102,400 children are orphaned-in Africa alone.
  • in many countries 15% of orphans commit suicide before age 18.
  • every 2.2 seconds another orphan ages out.
  • every day 38,493 children age out of the system.
  • 153 million orphans in the world today spend an average of 10 years in an orphanage or foster system.

It is so frustrating to me to know that there are families that are so willing to adopt and restrictions, money and wait times are making it very difficult. Please help by signing this petition.

A child's right to a family petition

We need to gather one million petition signatures by May 17th to ask Congress, Global Leaders and President Obama to take specific actions to change the landscape of international adoption.

The next thing you can do is watch this documentary
STUCK

STUCK is a new award-winning documentary film, created to help the average person understand the issues and create a movement that will ultimately put pressure on U.S. officials to force a more supportive attitude toward international adoption. The film will premiere across the country from March to May 2013, as they visit 60 cities in 80 days.
Jarrod and I have already bought our tickets to view this movie in Bricktown on March 17th at 7pm.
You can purchase tickets HERE.
